Verdun, From War to the Peace

1st dayCheck-in Verdun in early afternoon. Meet your guide at the Tourist Office.

Afternoon tour of the battlefield of Verdun, evocation of the highlights of the 1st World War:
  • Underground Citadel: since the assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand in 1914 to choice of the Unknown Soldier in 1920
  • Fort de Vaux battles février to November 1916 between the French and Germans
  • Ossuary Douaumont dedicated to the many victims, identified or not, found on different places of combat;
At the end of the visit, you will reach your shelter near Verdun to make dinner and spend the night.
2nd dayAfter breakfast, departure by bus to Verdun. Meet your guide at the Tourist Office.
Morning: Continuation of the discovery of the battlefield of Verdun and visit its main sites:
 
  • Vestiges of the Great war,
  • Fort Douaumont book Sere de Rivieres, particularly played by both sides, from its position and its equipment
  • Bayonets trench
 
Lunch consists of a packed meal in the city park or in a room heated by the weather.
Afternoon: Field of Battle of Argonne, the Americans liberated the Argonne in September 1918, leaving the battlefield with hundreds of thousands dead, find sites and monuments dedicated to the memory of all those young soldiers who died for liberty

At the end of the afternoon, return to your shelter to have dinner and spend the night.
 
3rd dayAfter breakfast, departure by coach to World Peace Centre of Verdun:
  • Visit the permanent exhibition "From war to peace" and thematic exhibitions devoted to peace and human rights,
  • Visit the exhibition "Que reste-t-il de la Grande Guerre"

Lunch consists of a packed meal in the city park or in a heated room  by the weather.
